Each Birka Lexia piece origins from a hand sculptured wax model that’s been casted into metal, and then hand finished. Therefore, the jewelry will have small irregularities as a proof of its handcrafted nature.
As silver is a material that changes over time, note that your piece will get a personal worn-in look and that oxidation and small scratches may occur as you wear it. This is fully normal - and the charm with a favorite piece of jewelry.
However, if you wish to slow down that process here are a couple of things to be mindful of. Oxidation and change of surface might happen faster if the metal comes in contact with perfume, lotions, hairspray, water, salt air or if you store the jewelry in a humid place such as a bathroom. In some cases, also when the pieces are stored in a box or bowl where it stays in contact with other metals and jewelry. It’s recommend to keep your Birka Lexia jewelry stored alone in the box it came in, in a dry place.
It’s not recommend to wear your Birka Lexia jewelry in a sauna, while showering, swimming or during workout sessions. Contact with water or sweat (salt water) will also make the jewelries’ finish change faster.
Each Birka Lexia piece have the BLJ 925 hallmark stamp that guarantees that your jewelry is made out of the correct alloy to be legally called sterling silver.
Cleaning your Birka Lexia jewelry
Use lukewarm water and a tiny drop of mild dishwashing soap. Clean gently with a soft toothbrush. Make sure to completely dry every hollow and corner. If a wet piece of jewelry is left to to air dry it can in some cases lead to stains.
Another good way to polish your Birka Lexia jewelry is with a jewelry polish cloth or jewelry polish meant for sterling silver.
